Email from Judge Eckhardt regarding the January 31, 2020, Commissioners Court Retreat:

Commissioners,

The Agenda for our retreat Friday is included below. Tracey has secured a wonderful facilitator – Michael McMillion. Here is his website themcmilliongroup.com/ in the event you would like to get to know him a bit in advance of Friday.

In the next couple of days, I will be sending out a “workbook” of sorts (Commissioner Travillion’s suggestion) to get our creative juices flowing before Friday.

The Agenda culminates in an exploration of possibly competing priorities with regard to our constrained resources (time, treasure and talent). The following are some suggested areas to use for this exploration. We will not take action or resolve these issues at the retreat. They are merely vehicles to better understand each other. Please feel free to send to me other suggested topic to explore our priorities and constraints.

· Pros and Cons of County Administrator
· Balancing the maintenance of establish programs with exploration of new programs
· Effective use of Community Participation and Advisory Boards
· Expectations for recruitment and filtering of candidates for appointment/hire

I have some good news - there is a lot of enthusiasm for this year’s retreat resulting in more participants than ever! The bad news is that I grossly under-budgeted lunch costs at $250 when the actual cost for the more than 40(!) participants is $500. If commissioners would like to contribute above the $50 you have already provided, I would welcome it.
