NOTE TO EDITORS: There will be a press conference at City Hall, 301 W. 2nd St., Austin, TX 78701 at 1:00 p.m. today to discuss shelter operations and inclement weather preparedness.

The Capital Area Shelter Hub Plan (CASHP) is now active to receive evacuees from Hurricane Harvey. The first two shelters, located at Delco Center, 4601 Pecan Brook Dr, Austin, TX 78724 and LBJ/LASA High School, 7309 Lazy Creek Dr, Austin, TX 78724, are now open. Additional shelters will open as needed and announced using the City of Austin Twitter account - @austintexasgov.

Media availability staging information at the shelter will be distributed by Austin Independent School District.

The CASHP is a regional network of emergency shelters operated by the City of Austin, Hays County, Travis County, and Williamson County.

As active shelter information and weather may change rapidly, we will be relying on the following channels to communicate the most recent information:

TAX RATE: TRAVIS COUNTY ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR’S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 3.5 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $9.12.
