Project Background
Gilleland Creek Greenway runs north/south along Gilleland Creek from NE Metro Park in Pflugerville, to the confluence of the Colorado River in East Travis County. This roughly 19-mile greenway accounts for approximately three quarters of the parkland in the NE planning area of Travis County and consists of more than 1200 acres of land. The trail portion of the greenway is planned to be a 15’ wide concrete trail with bridges, low water crossings, picnic areas at trailheads and historical and environmental interpretive signage.

Phase 1 (Recommended by CBAC)
Construct greenway trails and amenities from Northeast Metro Park to and including the renovation of Ben E. Fisher Park. Renovation of Ben E. Fisher Park will include considerations for trailhead usage as well as continued neighborhood park usage. This phase includes approximately 7 miles of trail and associated amenities.
Phase 2 (Not Recommended by CBAC)
Design / Engineer the greenway trails and amenities from the intersection of FM 973 and SH 130 south to the confluence of the Colorado River. This phase includes approximately 7 miles of trail and associated amenities.
