Project Background

The Timber Creek Park project is a jointly developed Travis County and United States Army Corps of Engineers park that will be County-owned and managed. It is part of the Onion Creek Flood Mitigation project on which the two agencies have been collaborating. It involved buying homes in the floodway that had repeatedly been inundated and converting the properties to parkland. Picnic areas and pavilions, playgrounds, trails and restrooms are planned to be constructed and a portion of the site will also be restored so bottomland woods mitigate the impact of floods.

Preliminary Budget Estimate

$13,000,000

Project Details

Update plans and construction of park amenities. Recently the Army Corps of Engineers reported a funding shortfall for this project. This bond funding will allow the County to move forward with the construction of this park independently of the Army Corps.
