On March 3, 2025, Judge Brown signed a declaration of local disaster due to wildfire danger due to severe drought and weather conditions. "A local state of disaster is hereby declared for Travis County, Texas, pursuant to section 417.108(a) of the Texas Government Code due to wildfire danger caused by extreme drought and weather conditions, which pose an imminent and substantial danger to the residents and property within Travis County." TAX RATE: TRAVIS COUNTY ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR’S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 12.7 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $34.51.
