To request information from Information Technology Services, please follow these steps:
Step 1
Complete the Request for Public Information Form.
This office does not keep the following types of records, to name just a few:
- Permits, platting, drainage, septic permits or road projects. Please direct those requests to Transportation and Natural Resources (TNR): TNR Open Records (traviscountytx.gov)
- Warrants, accident reports, or anything related to law enforcement. Please direct those requests to the Sheriff’s Office: Open Records Request (tcsheriff.org)
The Public Information Act does not require a governmental entity to conduct research, create documents, answer questions, nor forward requests.
Step 2
Per Government Code § 552.221 (d), ITS will respond to your request within 10 business days after the date of receipt. If ITS cannot produce the information within 10 business days, the office will certify the fact in writing and set a date within a reasonable timeframe when the information will be available.
Under certain circumstances ITS may need to obtain an open records letter ruling from the Office of the Attorney General, which can take up to 45 business days. That process is set out at Government Code section § 552.301.
Notices
