Within the parameters of the Public Funds Investment Act and the Travis County Investment Policy, the Investment Management Division:

  • Manages Travis County’s daily liquidity needs and the investment portfolios.
  • Through an inter-local with Central Health (Travis County Healthcare District), Travis County investment staff also manages the operating cash and the Central Health investment portfolio in accordance with their investment policy.
  • Monitors market trends, analyzes yield curves and spreads between various approved investment options, taking into consideration the liquidity needs while maximizing security and interest income.
  • Manages the depository contract, providing continuous analysis of the County’s uses within a complex regulatory environment; ensuring the County’s needs are met using the industry’s latest fraud prevention products.
  • Executes judgments focused on the safety of principle in all portfolios, while maximizing investment income and providing sufficient liquidity set forth in the Investment Policy.

TAX RATE: TRAVIS COUNTY ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR’S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 12.7 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $34.51.
