Travis County’s first Public Improvement District (PID) policy was adopted by Travis County Commissioners Court on January 30, 2016. Four PIDs were created under the original policy and continue to be implemented according to the original policy.

On March 31, 2020, Travis County Commissioners Court placed a moratorium on applications for new PIDs to enable staff to manage increased demands of pandemic response and allow time to revise the policy.

Travis County Commissioners Court approved the current PID policy on January 30, 2024, and lifted the moratorium for applications for new PIDs effective February 1, 2024. Below are links to the current PID Policy, old PID Policy, and a PID Policy Crosswalk comparing the current and old policy.

Four PIDs were created and continue to be implemented under the policy prior to February 1, 2024. For more information about those PIDs, visit the Travis County PIDs page.
