Travis County offers weatherization services to help clients achieve higher energy efficiency levels in their homes.

This program provides various standard energy efficiency improvements, such as reducing air infiltration, installing solar screens, attic insulation, and sealing HVAC ducts.

We can only assist Travis County residents.

Timeline

9 months to a year.

Cost

It is free to receive Weatherization Assistance from Travis County.

How to Apply

Gather required documents

You’re going to need the following documents:

  • Government-issued photo identification that shows the name, or Military ID, or current US Passport
  • Proof of ALL household income for the last 30 days (i.e., check stubs, unemployment benefits, pension letter, veterans benefit letter, current year
  • Social Security Award Letters, TANF, SNAP, child support, etc.)
  • Social Security Card or Social Security Numbers for all household members who have them
  • Completed Landlord or Homeowner Agreement

Submit an application

There are several ways to apply for assistance:

Go to our Application Portal to start your pre-screening.

Once the pre-screening tool confirms your eligibility, you will be directed to complete the application.

Follow the instructions and fill out the application completely. Make sure you submit the application when you’re done.

Complete an eligibility appointment

Once we receive your application, we will reach out to you in the order you applied.

Our staff will work with you to confirm your eligibility.

Wait to hear back from us

Once we confirm that you’re eligible for assistance, you’ll be added to a waitlist.

Look out for communication from our staff via phone and email.

Schedule a Whole House Assessment

As soon as your application comes up on the waitlist, Home Repair and Weatherization Services will work with you to assess what you qualify for.

Get weatherization assistance

Once your application is approved, you will receive the materials and/or labor you need to achieve higher energy efficiency in your home.

TAX RATE: TRAVIS COUNTY ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR’S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 12.7 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $34.51.
