Program Description

GOAL:

To reduce recidivism and minimize noncompliance of conditions of probation by providing court support to youthful offenders who are on supervision for a serious offense.

STAFF FOR THE DOCKET:

Judge, Probation officer, Defense attorney, and judicial aide will provide support for this docket.

DOCKET SETTING:

Cases will be set once a month for the probationer to appear. All probationers on this docket will be required to appear at this setting. If a probationer provides proof of employment/enrollment in school that would conflict with the setting, their appearance may be waived. Court staff will review the progress of probationer. Resources such as job listings, may be provided to probationer. The purpose of the setting is to provide encouragement, address issues, and correct behavior, if necessary. Incentives may be given by the court, such as reduction in Community Service hours or court costs for positive behavior and compliance with terms of supervision.

DURATION OF PARTICIPATION:

Probationers will be expected to participate in this docket for a period of nine months. Early release from the docket is a possibility for exceptional compliance. An extension of time of up to three months, may be required for less than optimal participation.
