Purpose:

Travis County, in coordination with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), is holding a public hearing to discuss improvements to Pearce Lane from Kellam Road to Wolf Lane in Travis County, Texas. The purpose of the public hearing is to present the proposed project and receive public comment.

An in-person meeting will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Del Valle Opportunity Center located at 5301 Ross Road in Del Valle, Texas 78617. Attendees will be able to view a pre-recorded presentation, review hard copies of project materials, ask questions of project staff and/or consultants and leave written comments.

Additionally, Travis County is providing a virtual option for individuals who would like to participate online instead of in person. The virtual hearing will consist of the same pre-recorded video presentation, project materials and will include both audio and visual components. The presentation will be posted online by Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023 at 6 p.m. and be available until Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. Comments received or postmarked by Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023 will be included in the official public hearing record.

Description

The project area is experiencing a high growth rate with multiple residential developments being started or planned. The proposed project is needed to help alleviate congestion, improve mobility, and enhance safety on Pearce Lane from Kellam Road to Wolf Lane in Travis County. The proposed project objectives include:

  • Realignment and widening of Pearce Lane from a 2-lane roadway to 4-lane roadway with a raised median
  • Adding bike lanes and sidewalks
  • Improving safety for pedestrian and vehicular traffic
  • Limiting disturbance to the surrounding property and environment
  • Ensuring no rise in water elevation upstream or downstream

TAX RATE: TRAVIS COUNTY ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR’S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 3.5 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $9.12.
