Did you receive a Notice of Violation and/or Stop Work Order at your construction site? Learn what steps to take to correct the issue and get back to building.

 Resolution Process

1

Receive a Notice of Violation and/or Stop Work Order

If a suspected violation of the code has occurred, a notice would be posted prominently on your property to ensure that you’re aware of the violation.

2

Review the notice carefully

Make sure you understand what the violation is and what you need to do to correct it. Contact the code enforcement office if you have any questions or need clarification.

3

Perform temporary correction (if On-Site Sewage Facility)

This step only applies if the violation involves an On-Site Sewage Facility (OSSF), also know as the septic system.

If there is exposed sewage, it must be cleaned up/corrected within 24 hours.

Temporary mitigation may involve capping of sewer pipes and/or voluntarily shutting off water to the project site.

4

Schedule an inspection of the temporary correction (if applicable)

Complaints involving OSSF require a Health Hazard Inspection.

Daily inspections and inspection fees will accrue until violations are satisfactorily corrected, or you will be referred to the County Attorney for civil penalties and/or criminal charges.
